Indian Geotechnical Society Trichy chapter was inaugurated on 14th February 2014 and one of the active chapter among the 48 local chapters. The objective of the chapter is to provide a common forum for academicians, research workers, designers, construction engineers, equipment manufacturers and others interested in geotechnical activities. It also works for promoting cooperation among theose members for the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in Geotechnical Engineering and allied fields and their practical application. The chapter has organized many workshops, short term courses and conferences in a short duration of time which includes 6th Indian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (6IYGEC 2017) which was an biennial event of IGS hosted during 10 & 11 March, 2017.
